MANHATTAN, Kan. - The regular season has come to a close and the Kansas State women’s golf team will begin post-season play at the Big 12 Championships, April 22-24. This year’s quest for a championship will be held at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo., with 18-holes being played each day. Live scoring can be followed at www.golfstat.com.

THE FIELD: This will be the first event of the season that pits the Wildcats against the entire Big 12 field. K-State has faced all conference foes throughout the course of the season with a 11-20 (.367) record. The entire 12-team field consists of Baylor, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIPS PREVIEW: Head coach Kristi Knight will send the lineup of Whitney Pyle, Paige Osterloo, Gianna Misenhelter, Ami Storey and Hanna Roos to Columbia for the championship. This is just the second time this season this lineup has been used. The five competed at the Fresno State Lexus Classic in March where they finished 11th out of 16 teams with a score of 87-over par 951. Statistically, this is the lowest stroke-average K-State could field to this point in the season as they hold the five lowest stroke-average on the team.

Pyle leads in stroke average for the Wildcats with 76.92 through nine events. The sophomore is coming off of her third top-20 performance this season with a tie for 19th at the Indiana Invitational.

The most achieving golfer of the spring has been Osterloo with two top-10 finishes to her credit. Through five events this spring, Osterloo has notched a team-best 77.14 stroke average. The junior is the only Wildcat to post a top-5 finish this season, with that mark coming at the Chip-N-Club Invitational where she finished second.
HISTORY AT THE BIG 12: K-State’s best finish at the Big 12 Championships came in 2009 where Coach Knight guided her squad to a fourth-place finish.

LAST TIME OUT: Osterloo led a strong effort by the Wildcats with three individuals finishing in the top-20 at the Indiana Invitational. K-State finished fifth out of 15 teams in its final regular season event.

The event was shortened to just 36-holes as the scheduled first and second rounds were suspended due to rain. The Wildcats played through tough conditions to card a 29-over par 317 in the first round followed by a 19-over par 307 in the second. The two-round score of 48-over par 624 placed the Wildcats in fifth, two strokes ahead of sixth-place Western Michigan. K-State’s three individuals placing in the top-20 was the most since it had five at the Chip-N-Club Invitational during the fall slate.

CLUB AT OLD HAWTHORNE: The event will take place at the par 72, 6,204-yard Club at Old Hawthorne. This will be the second time this season the Wildats have competed on this course.
