MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State women’s golf team announced the signing of Olivia Eliasson to a NLI for the 2011-12 season. Eliasson is the second signee for Kristi Knight’s 2011-12 recruiting class with Carly Ragains, of Highland Village, Texas, signing in November.

Eliasson is currently a senior from Lund, Sweden, attending Polhemskolan High School and ranks No. 24 currently among Swedish amateurs.

Eliasson’s accolades include a 2010 Swedish Women Team Golf Championship along with first-place honors at the 2010 Kungsmaurken Junior Open. She also placed third at the 2010 Swedish Junior Open.

“The team and I are excited about the addition of Olivia to our program,” said Knight. “She has a great competitive spirit and a dedicated work ethic. She has developed her game on the highly competitive Skandia Tour in Sweden as a junior. During her visit to K-State I was impressed with her honesty and she also has a great sense of humor.”

In addition, Elisasson was part of the west team in the Skandia Stars Ryder Cup match between east and west Sweden in 2009 and 2010 after a top placement at the Skandia Tour Order of Merit. Eliasson also qualified and played in the international Junior Masters Invitational finals in 2008, 2009 and 2010 with an eighth place decision 2010.

Eliasson joins three other international players currently on K-State’s squad, Laura Hildebrandt (Canada), Ami Storey (United Kingdom) and Hanna Roos (Sweden). Roos hales from Uppsala, Sweden approximately seven hours north of Eliasson’s native town of Lund.

K-State seniors, Emily Houtz and Elise Houtz will be graduating from this year’s team, while the Wildcats will return seven other golfers that saw competition this season.

Eliasson plans to major in biochemistry at Kansas State University.
