Sunner to Attend NCAA Development Conference

MANHATTAN, Kan. Sophomore golfer Abbi Sunner has been selected as the student-athlete representative for Kansas State at the 2008 National Student-Athlete Development Conference May 25-27 in Orlando, Fla.

The conference will be held at the Walt Disney World Resort and gives student-athletes from around the country a forum to openly discuss issues at their schools and in their communities.

The committee received 1840 nominations from 462 different institutions that met all of the established guidelines from Divisions I, II and III. From those nominees, a total of 700 student-athletes have been selected to participate in the 2008 National Student-Athlete Development Conference.

Sunner, a native of Ankeny, Iowa, was nominated as a team captain this season for the Wildcats. She played in all 11 tournaments for K-State and her stroke average of 79.55 ranked third on the squad. Sunner was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection this year and was one of just five golfers on the Big 12 Conference’s list of 66 Academic All-Big 12 men’s and women’s selections to own a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Katerina Kudlackova, a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection from the women’s tennis team, is an alternate for the conference.
