Two Qualify For U.S. Public Links

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas State’s Emily Houtz and incoming freshman Gianna Misenhelter each qualified for the 2010 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links at Shoal Creek Golf Course Tuesday.

Houtz, a Manhattan native, carded a 1-under par 71 to finish second in the event and qualify for the second time in her career. Houtz, who accomplished the same feat in 2008, will be entering her senior season this fall after scoring a 78.94 stroke average as a junior.

Misenhelter fired a 2-under par 70 to win the competition and qualify for her third WAPL Championship. The Overland Park, Kan., native signed a national letter of intent with K-State last November and will begin her Wildcat career this fall. Misenhelter has won three state titles during her prep career at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

Houtz and Misenhelter will meet qualifiers from around the country in the 34th annual Women’s Amateur Public Links, June 21-26, at Warren Course at Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
