June 13, 2013

MANHATTAN, Kan. - For the second term in a row, Kansas State women's golf head coach Kristi Knight was elected to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Board of Directors and will serve as the Division One Director for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association is governed by a 13-member Board of Directors including women's collegiate golf coaches at Division I, II & III institutions.

"I appreciate the opportunity my fellow coaches have given me to once again serve on the WGCA Board," said Knight. "Members of the board have an opportunity to grow and enhance our organization and improve college golf for student-athletes and coaches."
The only Big 12 coach elected to the WGCA Board of Directors, Knight's main role will be to serve as chair of the WGCA Awards Committee, which determines the All-American teams, Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year honorees. The committee also determines honorees for the Coach and Player Hall of Fames.

Knight enters her 19th year as head women's golf coach at K-State and currently reigns as the longest-tenured head women's golf coach in the Big 12. She led the Wildcats to seven top-10 finishes last season and looks to continue that success as K-State kicks off the 2013-14 season on September 9-10 in the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Co.
