Misenhelter Advances to Match Play at Public Links

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Backed by a first-round score of 2-under par 70, Kansas State women’s golfer Gianna Misenhelter advanced to match play at the 36th U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J.

Misenhelter, who also advanced to match play in the event last year, recorded an eagle on the par-4 seventh hole on Monday and also birdied No. 8 en route to her 2-under par round. She carded a 5-over par 77 during Tuesday’s second round as she enters match play tied for 43rd at 3-over par 147. The top 64 individuals during stroke play advanced to the match-play portion of the event.

A native of Overland Park, Kan., Misenhelter will take on Yi Chen Liu in her first-round matchup beginning at 9:06 a.m., (CT) Wednesday. Chen Liu, a product of Taiwan, turned in a 36-hole score of 2-under par 142 during stroke play to tie for ninth.
