Preston, Ragains Earn Top-20 Finishes

MANHATTAN, Kan. – A pair of Kansas State women’s golfers carded top-20 finishes last weekend as sophomore-to-be Scotland Preston and junior-to-be Carly Ragains competed in events in Ohio and Texas, respectively.

Playing in the 113th Women's Western Amateur Championship at Dayton Country Club in Dayton, Ohio, Preston advanced past stroke play portion of the event after shooting 147 to finish tied for 19 out of the field of 144 to qualify for the championship flight. She won her first match, 2-1, over Meghan Perry before falling in the round of 32.

Ragains competed in the Texas Women's Open at Old American Golf Club in The Colony, Texas, an event open to both amateur and professional golfers. The Highland Village, Texas native fired a 153 to tie for 14th place out of 78-player field, while finishing in fifth place out of the 52 amateurs in the field.
