Regan Wins Kansas City Women's Amateur

MANHATTAN, Kan. Battling windy conditions and tough competition, former Kansas State women’s golfer Michelle Regan won the inaugural Kansas City Women’s Amateur at the par 71 Swope Memorial Golf Course on Sunday.

Regan, a Prairie Village, Kan., became the tournament’s first winner as she shot the low scores of both days, carding a 5-over 76 on Saturday and a 4-over 75 on Sunday. Regan, who completed her senior season at K-State this past year, edged Kansas City, Kan., native and current University of Kansas golfer Jennifer Clark, who shot an 11-over 153. Mary Kate Bird, who will be a sophomore next year at Nebraska, was third at 12-over 154.

Regan will next compete in the U.S. Women’s Amateur qualifier on July 8th at Mission Hills Country Club before taking part in the Kansas Women’s Amateur, July 15-17, at Leavenworth Country Club.
