HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Kansas State’s Emily Houtz, finished second at the Kansas Women’s Amateur at the Highlands Country Club last week.

The Manhattan native got off to a great start in the opening round, posting a score of 74. Houtz backed that up with another 74 to claim a top spot on the leaderboard going into the final round. The junior-to-be was unable to keep that pace going in the final round, carding a 79 for a three round total of 227. Katy Nugent from the University of Arkansas won the tournament with a three round total of 219.

The Kansas Women’s Amateur marked the second top-10 finish for Houtz this summer. She finished in the top eight at the Western Amateur in June.
