Regan Finishes Fourth at Badger Invitational

VERONA, Wis. Michelle Regan posted a career best fourth place finish and the Wildcats shot a final round of 314, to take eighth place Monday at the Badger Invitational.

Regan carded a three round total of 11-over 227 for the event, including a final round 81, to wrap up play just twoi strokes off the lead.

Regan notched a 71 during the second round, besting her career low by two strokes.  Her previous best was a 73 at the Price’s Give Em’ Five Invitational on October 4, 2004.

The Wildcats shot rounds of 323, 309, and 314. Indiana was able to maintain the lead it had at the beginning of round three to hold on for the tournament win with rounds of 313, 307, and 302 to finish 10 strokes ahead of second place Wisconsin.

“Today wasn’t as good as we hoped for,” said Head Coach Kristi Knight. “There were some good things though so it wasn’t all bad. Helene (Robert) really battled hard, she didn’t the ball particularly well but she got it up and down, she chipped it in and really put together a solid round. Kali (Quick) was steady today; she really did a good job. Michelle (Regan) got off to a tough start in a new position today, being in the lead but she really settled down and played some good golf coming in. Everybody did a really good job considering they played about 51 of the 54 holes in the rain.”

Senior Helene Robert improved in third round, just as she did in the second, to finish the tournament with a score of 236, and a tie for 19th place.

Junior Hailey Mireles shot a final round of 79 to finish with a score of 241, tying her for 32nd place.

The Wildcats return to action next on Monday September 18th at the Chip N Club Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska.
