Wildcats to Compete at Columbia

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Following a week off, the Kansas State women's golf team will travel to Columbia, Missouri, to compete in the Johnie Imes Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 29-30, at the par-72, 6,234-yard The Club at Old Hawthorne.

The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. (CT) both days.

Six members of the K-State squad will be competing in next week's event with Madison Talley, Olivia Eliasson, Connie Jaffrey, Katherine Gravel-Coursol and Carly Ragains making up the scoring lineup. Scotland Preston will participate as an individual.

"Coach Stewart (Burke) and I are pleased with our preparation, and I know the ladies are looking forward to playing at Old Hawthorne," K-State head coach Kristi Knight said.

K-State has found success at the Johnie Imes Invitational over the last couple trips as the Wildcats finished second in the 2011 version at 22-over par 886 and third in 2012 at 24-over par 888.

In the Wildcats' second event of the season, the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, K-State was led by Talley, who finished tied for 12th. The team took ninth with a 26-over par 902, only one shot behind eighth-place Cal.

Kansas State will be joined in the Johnie Imes Invitational by 15 other teams, which includes Bradley, Coastal Carolina, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Illinois State, Middle Tennessee State, Missouri, Oklahoma City, Redlands, South Florida, Southern Illinois, UALR, UMKC and Wichita State.
