K-State Tied for 10th After Two Rounds

Kiawah Island, S.C. - The Kansas State women's golf team shot 16-over par in two rounds to sit in a tie for 10th out of 18 teams at the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the par-72 Oak Point Golf Course Monday.

K-State shot a 304 in the first round and was led by redshirt freshman Kristen Dorsey, who carded a career low even par 72. The Wildcats were unable to improve in the second round as they mirrored the first with 16-over par 304, giving them a score of 608 (+32).

"We had two good scores in both rounds but we need four on this course," said head coach Kristi Knight. "We will need to be more consistent tomorrow. There was some indecision today at times, so we need to commit to each shot."

East Tennessee State leads the competition after shooting 7-over par on the day. The Buccaneers were able to post a six-shot lead over East Carolina in the first round after shooting an impressive 1-over par 289. Maryland sits in second after shooting a 3-over par 586 through two rounds.

Maryland's Jessie Hollandsworth leads all individual scorers after carding a 69 (-3) in round one followed by a 4-under par 68 in round two, giving her a score of 137 (-4) on the day.

Dorsey's first round score of 72 put her in a tie for fifth-place but she was unable to carry the momentum into the second round as she carded a 12-over par 84, putting her in tie for 55th.

The highlight in the second round came from senior Abbi Sunner who put up a 1-over par 73 on the board to give her a 36-hole score of 151 (+7), putting her in a tie for 33rd.

Morgan Moon shot a 75 (+3) in the first round followed by a 78 (+5) in the second to give her a score of 9-over par 153 and a tie for 41st.

On Moon's heels is freshman Whitney Pyle, who shot a two-round score of 154 (+10), putting her in a tie for 43rd. This is Pyle's second collegiate event of her career.

Ami Storey rounded out Monday's scoring for K-State. Storey shot an 81 (+9) in the first round paired with a 78 in the second to give her a 36-hole score of 159 (+15).
