Wildcats Ink Two Players for 2007-08 season

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State Women’s golf program announced the signing of Manhattan natives Elise and Emily Houtz on Wednesday. The pair will join the Wildcat squad next season which will return three current juniors, a sophomore and two freshmen.

 

The pair was a part of three state championship teams (2003, 2004, 2006) at Manhattan High School and one second place team (2005).

 

“I am very excited about Elise and Emily Houtz joining our program,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “They both have a great work ethic and a fierce competitive nature. Those things are important in any sport and especially in golf. Their high school careers have been outstanding and I know they will continue to improve and grow in our program.”

 

Elise has two top-ten individual finishes at the state tournament, 7th in 2005 and 4th in 2006, and won the regional individual titles in 2004 and 2005. She finished third in the 2005 Kansas Junior Girls State Tournament, and followed that up by finishing first in the same tournament in 2006. She was the KWGA Amateur-Low Junior in 2006. In addition she played on three Junior Four-State Teams (2004, 2005, 2006). Elise had 29 top-five finishes in 40 tournaments in high school, including 13 first-place finishes.

 

Emily has three top-ten individual finishes at the state tournament, 9th in 2003, 4th in 2004 and 3rd in 2006. She was the regional tournament individual winner in 2006. Emily was the KWGA Tournament of Champions winner in 2004 and 2005. She finished 2nd at the 2005 Kansas Junior Girls State Tournament, and 5th at the same tournament in 2006. She joined her sister on the three Junior Four-State Teams (2004, 2005, 2006). Emily had 30 top-five finishes in 40 tournaments in high school, including five first-place finishes.
