K-State Rowing Heads to Longhorn Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State rowing team continues its first week of action in the spring at the Longhorn Invitational beginning Friday on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. The Wildcats will take on some of the top teams in the nation over the next three days of action to test the team in its first multi-day competition of the season.

K-State enters the Longhorn Invitational after taking on Alabama in a dual race on Monday in Tuscaloosa. The Wildcats were bested by the Crimson Tide in each race but used the opportunity to test out multiple lineups in each Varsity and Novice boat to find the best combinations and give experience to more Wildcats.

Last year at the Longhorn Invitational, the Wildcats battled Wisconsin, Duke, Central Florida and Iowa. This year the young Wildcat team will take on strong opponents from Oklahoma, UCF, Louisville and Iowa. Taking to the water multiple times over the three days will allow the coaching staff to evaluate the team early in the season and prepare for the remainder of the difficult schedule.
