Wildcats Ready to Row on West Coast

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State Wildcats travel to the West Coast this weekend to row in the San Diego Crew Classic. The Wildcats will take on some of the nation's top collegiate teams in three races beginning Saturday.

K-State's first race will be in the Women's Collegiate SeaWorld Cal Cup and will face crews from Sacramento State, Tulsa, Loyola, Sonoma, UC Irvine and British Columbia in its heat. Last year, the Wildcats 1st Varsity 8 finished third in the Grand Final of the Cal Cup.

The Wildcats will be matched up against Southern California, Sacramento State, UC Davis and Virginia in the Women's Collegiate JV race's first heat, and K-State's 1st Novice 8 will be on the water with Oklahoma, San Diego, UC Davis, Washington State and California's lightweight crew in its heat of the Women's Collegiate Novice.

Following the first day of racing the teams will advance to various levels of final heats depending on finishes in the heats on Saturday. Fans can follow live results via the San Diego Crew Classic's twitter feed twitter.com/crewclassic. Live video will also be available at www.crewclassic.org.
