K-State to Tangle with Rival in Kansas Cup

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State rowing team will battle in-state rival Kansas on Saturday in the annual Kansas Cup. The Wildcats and Jayhawks will take to the water on Wyandotte County Lake in Kansas City at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The rivals were scheduled to face each other in the Sunflower Showdown on Tuttle Creek Lake in November but the event was cancelled due to high winds and inclement weather. K-State and Kansas did go head-to-head during the Head of the Des Moines during the fall season with the Wildcats finishing ahead of the Jayhawks.

K-State will conclude the regular season next weekend at the Southern IRAs in Oak Ridge, Tenn., with two days of action. The Wildcats’ postseason competition will begin the following weekend when all four Big 12 rowing programs meet in Wyandotte for the Big 12 Championship.
