K-State Rowing Heads to Tennessee

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State rowing team heads to Tennessee this weekend to participate in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship on Melton Lake in Oak Ridge. The Wildcats will face strong competition bringing boats to compete in the women's 1st Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 8, Novice 8,1st Varsity 4 and Novice 4 races.

After the 1st Varsity 8's victory over Kansas in the Kansas Cup, the Wildcats have had two weeks to make some adjustments to racing lineups and work on fine-tuning their technical race execution. Coach Patrick Sweeney said the SIRAs will be a good mid-season assessment for the upcoming Big 12 Championship in two weeks.

"We have had two weeks to look at crews since our last regatta," Sweeney said, "and this will give us a snapshot of how to make the next improvements in the following two weeks before Big 12s."
