Wildcats Lead Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- K-State Women's Rowing placed a conference-leading 32 student-athletes on the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team, announced today by the conference office. In all, 172 student-athletes, 144 first team and 28 second team, were honored for the 2014-15 academic year.

Of the Wildcats' 32 honorees, 25 were first team selections, including a conference-high seven student-athletes out of 11 total nominated with a 4.0 grade point average -- Beth DeMars (Elementary Education), Ally Franken (Civil Engineering), Brittany Long (Psychology), Meggie Murray (Dietetics), Kara Omo (Kinesiology), Lindsey Schmeidler (History) and Jennifer Smisek (Management).

The 32 honored are the most-ever for the program, besting the previous high set last season of 27, as well as marked the second-straight season K-State has led the Big 12. To qualify for first team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 or better GPA, while second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

K-State heads to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, this weekend for the Big 12 Championship, starting Saturday, May 16.
