Wildcats Ready for Regional Rowing

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State rowing team continues its push in the postseason with the Central Regional this weekend in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Wildcats will take on a strong field on the water hoping to ride a wave of momentum from the Big 12 Championship two weeks ago.

K-State finished second in the Big 12 Championship and dominated the water in the day’s biggest race the Varsity 8+. The Wildcats fell to Texas by just three points in the competition.

Preliminary races for the regional begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with K-State set to participate in four events. The Wildcats will field boats in the Novice 8+, Varsity 4+, Second and First Varsity 8+. Teams will be placed into four semifinals dividing the field based on placement in the preliminaries.

Last year K-State fielded three boats with their best finishes coming in the Second Varsity and Novice 8+ events. The Wildcats finished eight in both and also finished 10th in the First Varsity 8+.
