14 Wildcats Earn CRCA Scholar Athlete Award

Complete CRCA Scholar Athlete Winners

The Collegiate Rowing named is 2013 Scholar Athletes this week and 14 Kansas State Wildcats made the grade this year. This season marks the fourth straight year K-State has had at least nine rowers named a CRCA Scholar Athlete.

The group of Kaitlyn Arrow (marketing and management), Aly Bronder (kinesiology), Elizabeth DeMars (elementary education), Allison Dorau (elementary education), Ali Franken (civil engineering), Danielle Glynn (secondary education), Adria Ley (MBA/Spanish and anthropology), Brittany Long (psychology), Samantha McCloud (architecture), Megan Murray (dietetics), Kara Omo (kinesiology), Lindsey Schmeidler (history), Jennifer Smisek (business management and human resources management) and Abigail Weaver (mechanical engineering) all received the honor. Arrow and Glynn were named to the team for a third time while Dorau and Ley were both on last year’s list as well. Ley earns her third honor having been named a CRCA Scholar Athlete in 2010 as well.

To be named a CRCA National Scholar Athlete a student-athlete must hold a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher for her career through the fall semester of the current competition year. They must also meet all eligibility requirements by their respective institution and be in at least their second year of eligibility. The student-athlete must have participated in 75 percent of the team’s spring races or in a regional conference event and the team’s head coach must be a member in good standing with the CRCA.
