Niedermayerova Continues Winning Streak

TULSA, Okla. – No. 53 Kansas State made its third attempt at win No. 250 for head coach Steve Bietau on Friday afternoon, but No. 20 Tulsa proved to be too much as the Golden Hurricane secured a 6-1 win at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The Wildcats, who have lost three straight, are now 2-5 this season and Tulsa improves to 5-1.

K-State’s lone win on the day came from No. 17 Petra Niedermayerova from the number one singles position. The sophomore from Brno, Czech Republic, improved her winning streak to six straight matches as she tallied a 6-1, 6-2 win over No. 78 Anastasia Erofeeva. All 12 of Niedermayerova’s wins this season have come in straight sets, where she has a career record of 31-9 in two-set matches.

Niedermayerova is now 11-9 in her career against ITA ranked opponents. Saturday’s win boosted her record this season to 12-7, while she improved her career record to 36-17.

Kansas State will complete its eight-match road trip on Saturday afternoon in Tulsa, as the Wildcats take on UT-Arlington at 1 p.m.
