Wildcats Dropped by No. 43 Memphis

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Kansas State dropped its fourth straight match on Saturday, as the Wildcats fell to No. 43 Memphis, 4-0, at the Savitt Tennis Center. The Wildcats are now 5-5 this season.

The morning’s match between the Wildcats and Lady Tigers used experimental formats set up by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Doubles play and the match was halted after a winner was decided.
Memphis secured the doubles point with wins at the number two and three positions in the lineup. K-State is 1-4 this season when dropping the doubles point.

The Lady Tigers captured singles wins at the numbers two, four and six spots in the lineup. The matches at numbers one, three and five were halted. Senior Petra Niedermayerova was on the verge of capturing her 97th career singles match as she led 6-3, 5-2 when play was ended.

K-State will host No. 54 Wichita State on Saturday, March 8 at 12 p.m. A decision on where the match will be played, indoors or outdoors at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium, will be made on Saturday depending on the temperature.
