K-State Falls at Iowa on Sunday

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Kansas State suffered just its second loss in the last six matches, as Iowa defeated the Wildcats on Sunday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.

The Basics
• Score: Iowa 4, Kansas State 1,
• Records: Kansas State (6-7), Iowa (6-4)

• Iowa captured the early 1-0 lead over K-State, by winning the doubles point with a 2-1 decision with wins at number two and three doubles.
• After the Hawkeyes won at number two doubles, the Wildcats' number one pairing of
sophomore Palma Juhasz and freshman Carolina Costamagna outlasted Shelby Talcott and Anastasia Reimchen, 6-3, for their third straight win together.
• Iowa secured the point with a 6-4 win at number three doubles.

• Iowa won three of the four available singles matches.
• Juhasz continued her strong singles play with a 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 win over Morven McCulloch at number two singles. The sophomore from Debrecen, Hungary is now 14-8 this season including a current six-match winning streak. She is now 27-25 in her career in singles play.

• Kansas State is 6-22 against teams from the Big Ten Conference.
• This was the eighth meeting in the series between the schools. Iowa leads the series, 6-2.
• As a team, K-State is now 84-69 in singles action and 30-37 in doubles.

• "There's a lot of positive to take from today. I think we competed very well and played good tennis in most positions. We had some loose games in doubles and we know we can't afford those. Carolina and Palma played very well at one doubles and they both had a strong singles showing as well, which we're happy about."
