Wildcats Dominate Final Day of Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - K-State registered a strong final day of action at the Hoosier Classic on Sunday, as the Wildcats tallied four singles victories. For the weekend, K-State registered eight singles wins.

Senior Petra Niedermayerova, ranked No. 12 in the preseason Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national singles rankings, carded a 6-4, 6-2 win over Diana Davitaia of Eastern Michigan. The product of Brno, Czech Republic, is now 2-1 this season and owns the school record for career singles wins with an 82-34 (.707) mark. Her career singles winning percentage of .707 ranks second in school history. She is 67-20 (.770) in matches decided in two sets.
Niedermayerova will now compete in the main draw of the 2013 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, Oct. 2-6, in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Niedermayerova will represent K-State for the third straight year at the event. She has reached at least the quarterfinals of this event in her previous two appearances and has been selected for the main draw of the event for the second straight season.

Freshman Riley Nizzi registered a 6-4, 6-3 win over Tracy Kuhle of Western Michigan to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record. The walk-on from Overland Park, Kan., improved her brief K-State career record to 5-1, to lead the team in singles victories after two events.

Also completing the weekend with singles victories were junior Amina St. Hill and freshman Livia Cirnu. St. Hill checked in with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Nini Sujashvili of Western Michigan to bring her fall mark to 3-3. For her career, the product of Gothenburg, Sweden owns an overall singles mark of 23-31.

Cirnu tallied a 6-4, 6-3 win over Barbare Eristavi of Western Michigan. The native of Constanta, Romania improved to 4-2 this season with the win.

K-State's full roster will have a break from competition until the ITA Central Regional in Norman, Okla., on Oct. 17-21.
