Niedermayerova Advances at Riviera/ITA Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – K-State’s Petra Niedermayerova is no stranger to the courts of the Riviera Tennis Club, as she made her third appearance at the Riviera/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women’s All-American Championships on Thursday in the first round of the main draw.

Niedermayerova, ranked No. 12 in the preseason ITA national singles rankings, defeated No. 8 ranked Krista Hardebeck of Stanford, 6-1, 6-3 to advance to Friday’s second round of the main draw. The product of Brno, Czech Republic, is now 3-1 this season and is 6-2 in her career at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships. She has advanced to the quarterfinals in her previous two appearances.
Niedermayerova owns the school record for career singles wins with an 83-34 (.709) mark. Her career singles winning percentage of .709 ranks second in school history. She is 68-20 (.773) in matches decided in two sets.
On Friday, Niedermayerova will take the court at 12:45 p.m. (CT), to face No. 27 ranked Beatrice Capra of Duke.
