HOUSTON, Texas –
Kansas State women’s tennis opened up action at the Jason’s Deli Collegiate Invitational on Friday. The Wildcats picked up three singles wins and one doubles win on the first day.

• K-State tallied its three singles wins from sophomores Palma Juhasz and Maria Panaite and freshman Laura Hopton.
• Juhasz won her third straight match with a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Northwestern State’s Tatiana Larina.
• Panaite ended a personal two-match downturn with a hard fought 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 win over Polina Ivanova of Northwestern State.
• Hopton bounced back from a rough weekend at the Drake Jamboree to register a quick 6-0, 6-2 win over Stacy Lackey of Prairie View A&M. The win ended a four-match skid for Hopton.

• The Wildcats’ lone doubles win came from the tandem of sophomore Livia Cirnu and Hopton.
• Cirnu and Hopton defeated the Houston duo of Rocio Martin and Phillips, 8-4.
• This was the first time head coach Danielle Steinberg has used this combination this season.

• As a team, K-State is now 38-35 in singles action this fall and 12-18 in doubles.
• Juhasz is now 6-3 this fall and owns a 19-20 career singles record.
• Panaite is 4-5 this fall and 13-25 in her career.
• Hopton is 4-5 in her debut season with the Wildcats.
• Sophomore Iva Bago had her career-high five-match win streak come to an end.
• Senior Amina St. Hill’s had her career-high four-match winning streak ended.
• Cirnu is 4-4 this fall in doubles action and improves to 10-26 in her career. Hopton is 3-5 this season in doubles.

• “I think we need to give ourselves a little more credit and play with a little more belief. The way we carry ourselves out there will play a huge impact on how well we do this year.”
