FLUSHING, N.Y. – For the second time in three days, Kansas State’s Petra Niedermayerova faced a three-set match at the 2011 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships and for the second time Niedermayerova suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the extended match at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Niedermayerova, ranked No. 35 in the Campbell/ITA national singles rankings, rebounded from a first set defeat to register a second set win in a tie-break. She was unable to finish off the comeback, as No. 24 Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar of Texas A&M held on for the 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3 win.

A sophomore from Brno, Czech Republic, Niedermayerova finished this fall with a 6-6 record and is now 30-16 (.652).
