K-State Hosts Drake to Open Season

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State women’s tennis begins the spring dual season on Saturday, welcoming Drake to Cottonwood Racquet Club at 11 a.m.

 

Entering this weekend’s season opener, K-State has won four straight season-openers and five of the last six. The Wildcats are 6-4 all-time against the Bulldogs, including a current winning streak of five straight. The last time these two teams met, K-State came away with a 7-0 decision on Jan. 27, 2007.

 

The Wildcats are 12-11 this season in three-set singles matches with sophomore Antea Huljev and freshman Masha Slupska leading the way. Huljev has a 4-1 mark in extended matches this season and a career record of 9-7. Slupska is 3-0 during her debut season in three-set matches and is 7-6 overall.

 

The Wildcats will return to action on Feb. 7-8, as K-State faces Boise State and Colorado State in Boise, Idaho.
