No. 66 K-State Returns to California This Weekend

MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 66 Kansas State women’s tennis will look to put an end to a three-match skid this weekend, as the Wildcats travel to Fresno, California. The Wildcats will face San Francisco on Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT) and Fresno State on Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).


Kansas State and San Francisco will meet for the first this weekend. The Wildcats are 4-18 all-time against schools from the West Coast Conference. The Dons enter the weekend with a 2-1 record, dropping a 4-3 decision last weekend at San Jose State. San Francisco is paced by No. 49 ranked Andrea Ka.

K-State and Fresno State will meet for the seventh time with the Bulldogs leading the series, 4-2. The Wildcats won the last meeting with the Bulldogs, a 4-2 decision on Feb. 7, 2014 in Manhattan. The Wildcats are 9-17 against schools from the Mountain West Conference. Fresno State enters the weekend with a 2-2 record. The Bulldogs are led by No. 47 ranked Sophie Watts.

The Wildcats will be led into the weekend of competition by sophomore Iva Bago and senior Amina St. Hill. Bago’s singles record this season stands at 10-6 as she has won three of her last four outings. She needs one win to tie her win total from a season ago of 11.

St. Hill has won a team-high five straight matches and is 9-1 in her last 10 completed matches. St. Hill is 9-4 this season including a 3-0 mark in dual match play. The product of Gothenburg, Sweden, owns a career mark of 45-45 in singles action.

Following this weekend’s action in California, K-State will begin a three-match home stand. Kansas State will host Missouri State on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m., and UMKC and Emporia State on Saturday, Feb. 14.
