MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 45 Kansas State will close out the month of February this weekend in Wichita, Kan., as the Wildcats will face No. 65 Wichita State on Saturday evening at 5 p.m., then square off against No. 20 Purdue on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both matches will be contested at Wichita Country Club.

In K-State’s last matches, the Wildcats (3-2) suffered a pair of 4-2 defeats at the hands of No. 51 Memphis and No. 70 Columbia on Feb. 15-16 in Memphis, Tenn.

The Wildcats received its four singles wins last weekend from the tandem of junior Petra Niedermayerova and senior Karla Bonacic. Niedermayerova notched her fifth straight win at No. 1 singles, while Bonacic improved her winning streak to three at No. 2 singles this spring. Niedermayerova has now played six straight 3-set matches, going 5-1 in those matches. For her career, Niedermayerova owns a 14-12 record in extended matches. With a win this weekend in Wichita, Niedermayerova (67-28) will move into sole possession of fourth place on the K-State career singles wins list. For the season, Niedermayerova owns a record of 19-5, including a current five-match winning streak.

Bonacic, who has won five of her last six outings, needs two wins this weekend to move into sixth on the K-State career singles wins list as she owns a career mark fo 63-37. Dating back to the final three matches of the spring of 2010, Bonacic has won 39 of her last 47 matches in spring competitions.

Following this weekend’s matches in Wichita, K-State will travel to Lincoln, Neb., to face No. 15 Nebraska on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m.
