Series History and Notes
Columbia leads the series with K-State, 1-0... The Lions won the only meeting in the series, 4-2 last season on Feb. 16, 2013 in Memphis, Tenn.... K-State is 1-1 against schools from the Ivy League... The series between K-State and Memphis is tied at 2-2... K-State lost the last meeting with Memphis, a 4-2 decision in Memphis on Feb. 15, 2013... K-State’s last win over Memphis came on March 12, 1989, a 7-2 victory, in Jacksonville, Fla.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State will end a four-match road trip with another set of challenging matches this weekend, as the Wildcats travel to New York, N.Y., to face No. 36 Columbia and No. 43 Memphis on Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Savitt Tennis Center. K-State will look to halt a two-match skid.

In its last outings on Feb. 22-23, K-State (5-3) suffered its first consecutive losses this season as the Wildcats fell to No. 69 North Texas, 4-3, and at No. 23 Tulsa, 4-1. These were the first consecutive losses for K-State since April 5-19, 2013.

The Wildcats have been successful in doubles over the last five matches, winning four doubles points. Over this stretch, K-State has won nine of its 12 completed doubles matches with K-State’s top tandem of senior Petra Niedermayerova and junior Amina St. Hill leading the way. Since being paired together by head coach Steve Bietau for the first time in their careers on Feb. 1 against Liberty, Niedermayerova and St. Hill have won four of their five matches together.

For the season in singles action, Niedermayerova has led K-State from the top of the lineup. Ranked No. 82 in the national ITA singles rankings, Niedermayerova owns a team-leading record of 15-5 in singles including a 6-1 record this spring from the top spot in the lineup.

Niedermayerova improved her school record for career singles wins to 95-38 (.714), which includes a mark of 57-15  from the top position in the K-State lineup. Her career singles winning percentage of .714 ranks second in program history.

Following this weekend’s matches, the Wildcats will return to the Little Apple to host No. 54 Wichita State on Saturday, March 8 at 12 p.m.
