Colorado Sweeps By K-State

BOULDER, Colo. Colorado handed Kansas State women’s tennis its first loss by a score of 7-0 this season during action at the CU Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon.

 

The Wildcats (5-6, 1-2 Big 12) suffered their first 7-0 decision since April 22, 2007 against Texas. The Buffaloes (6-6, 3-0) extended their current win streak to five and defeated K-State for the fourth time in the last five meetings.

 

K-State nearly captured two singles wins on Sunday, as junior Katerina Kudlackova and freshman Antea Huljev extended their matches to three sets. At number three singles, Kudlackova pushed Gleisy Torres Torres to the limit with a rally in the second set, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. At number two singles, Huljev also rallied in the second set but fell to Camila Belassi, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

 

Kansas State returns to Manhattan for a five-match homestand that begins on Wednesday, March 19 against Iowa at 1 p.m. Admission to all K-State women’s tennis matches is free.
