K-State to Face Rival Kansas on Wednesday

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Following an exciting 4-3 win on Sunday, K-State women's tennis returns to action on Wednesday to host rival Kansas at 2 p.m. The match will be contested at the Wamego Recreation Complex.

Kansas State (4-8 overall, 1-3 Big 12) halted a six-match skid with a 4-3 win over Iowa State on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats trailed 2-0 and 3-2 in the match, but clinched the win with a pair of three-set victories from freshmen Carmen Borau Ramos and Karla Bonacic. Borau Ramos earned her first career three-set win in four chances, while Bonacic improved her three-set record to 3-2 this season.

K-State received wins from three freshmen on Sunday, as Ana Gomez Aleman joined her fellow rookies with a straight set win at the number three position in the lineup. The three wins by the freshmen were the most by K-State's rookies in a match since Feb. 21.

While the Jayhawks (9-7 overall, 1-3 Big 12) hold the advantage in the series, 39-8, K-State has collected five wins in the last 10 meetings. Kansas has won the last two meetings in the series, including last year's 5-2 decision in Lawrence.

Following Wednesday's match against the Jayhawks, K-State will make its final road trip of the season. The Wildcats will begin the two-match trip at No. 65 Colorado on April 9 at 2 p.m., followed by a visit to Missouri on April 11 at 1 p.m.
