Series History and Notes
K-State is 23-10 in the series with Missouri... The Wildcats are 10-5 in matches played in Columbia... Missouri won last season’s meeting between the schools, 5-2, on April 10 in Manhattan... Since the 2005 season, the schools have alternated wins in the series, with K-State winning in even-numbered years and Missouri winning in odd-numbered years.


MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State will close out its 2012 spring road schedule this weekend, as the Wildcats travel to Iowa State and Missouri. K-State will face the Cyclones on Friday at 2 p.m., in Ames and will travel south to face the Tigers in Columbia on Sunday at 12 p.m. Both matches this weekend will be the first time since Feb. 18 that the Wildcats will not play a match against an opponent not ranked among the Campbell/ITA national top-75 team rankings.

K-State will look to halt a six-match skid this weekend. The Wildcats fell to No. 68 Wichita State on Thursday, April 5, 4-3 at the Wamego Recreation Complex. The match against the Shockers marked the ninth straight against a ranked opponent which are the most since at least the 2000 season. K-State captured the doubles point for the seventh time this season and tallied wins from Petra Niedermayerova at number one singles and Karla Bonacic at number two singles.

Niedermayerova, ranked No. 29 in the most recent Campbell/ITA national singles rankings, tallied a 6-4, 6-3 win over No. 79 Lutfiana Budiharto and ending Budiharto’s four-match winning streak in the process. Niedermayerova owns a career mark of 14-12 against opponents ranked in the Campbell/ITA national singles rankings.

Niedermayerova has won 13 of her last 17 matches and the sophomore from Brno, Czech Republic is 19-11 (.633) overall this season and is 43-21 (.672) in her career. Niedermayerova has played her entire career for the Wildcats in the number one position in the lineup and owns a career mark of 32-9 at this spot in the lineup.

Bonacic, the No. 95 player in the nation, has won 14 of her last 19 outings including a hard fought 6-3, 7-5 win over Noel Scott of Texas. Against Texas Tech on March 23, the junior from Split, Croatia, recorded the 50th singles win of her career as she owns a 52-33 (.612) career mark. With 11 more career singles wins, Bonacic will move into a tie for sixth on the K-State career singles wins list. Bonacic’s career singles winning percentage of .612 currently ranks sixth in school history.

In her career, Bonacic is 39-13 in dual match play which includes her record of 13-5 this season. In terms of her play from the number two position in the lineup, Bonacic is 18-7 in her career in the number two spot and has played every match this season in the second position.

Following the weekend’s road matches, K-State concludes the 2012 regular season on Saturday, April 21 against Sunflower State rival, Kansas. Match time is 1 p.m., and is slated to be played outdoors at the Wamego Recreation Complex.
