MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State will close out the 2014 spring regular season schedule this weekend, as the Wildcats host Sunflower State rival No. 63 Kansas at 12 p.m., at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. The match and parking are free to the public.

Prior to the start of Saturday’s match at 11:50 a.m., K-State will honor the career of its only senior on the roster, Petra Niedermayerova. Niedermayerova, a two-time ITA All-American and the three-time All-Big 12 singles selection and ranked No. 61 in the nation as of April 15, will depart K-State with numerous honors and records including the school records for career singles wins, career doubles wins, singles wins in a season and doubles wins in a season. She is the first Wildcat to reach 100 career singles wins and owns a career record of 102-42 (.708), which includes a mark of 64-19 from the top position in the K-State lineup and a 33-25 record against foes ranked in the ITA singles rankings.

Also, before the final home match of the season, K-State will host a USTA/ITA Campus Kids Day starting at 11 a.m. The USTA/ITA Campus Kids Day is designed to expose junior players, their parents and coaches to college tennis matches. Any child in the age range of kindergarten to 8th grade is allowed to participate in the USTA/ITA Campus Kids Day activities.

Last weekend, K-State (8-12, 2-6 Big 12) closed out its 2014 spring road schedule with a pair of losses. The Wildcats lost at No. 54 TCU on Friday, 7-0, and at No. 34 Texas Tech on Sunday, 6-1. K-State finishes the 2014 spring season with a 2-5 record away from Manhattan.

The lone bright spot for K-State on Sunday against the Lady Raiders was freshman Livia Cirnu. The product of Constanta, Romania, ended a personal six-match losing streak with a comeback win at number five singles. Cirnu defeated Samantha Adams 1-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (11-9). This was her second career Big 12 win (2-5) and improved her record in her rookie season in Manhattan to 14-16.

Following this weekend’s match, the Wildcats will travel to the 2014 Big 12 Tennis Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.
