Huljev, Slupska Win at Jayhawk Invite

LAWRENCE, Kan. In the final day of competition at the Jayhawk Invitational, Kansas State captured a pair of singles victories on Sunday afternoon at the First Serve Tennis Center.

 

Sophomore Antea Huljev won her second straight singles matches by defeating Ekaterina Morosova of Kansas, 6-3, 7-6 (9) in the main draw consolation final in the Jayhawk Flight. Huljev improved her fall record to 5-2 and her career singles record stands at 20-19.

 

Freshman Masha Slupska also won her second straight singles match by setting down Jillian Yakominich of UMKC, 6-2, 6-0 in the Blue Flight. The native of Kiev, Ukraine moved her singles record to 4-3.

 

Sophomore Vanessa Cottin’s career best winning streak of four was halted on Sunday, as Elne’ Barnard of Arkansas State was victorious, 6-4, 6-2.

 

Kansas State will be in action next weekend at the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Ind.
