Weekly Notes

Kansas State will send a delegation to this weekend’s Kansas Invitational at the Jayhawk Tennis Center. This will be the first team action for a majority of K-State’s roster since the Hoosier Classic on Sept. 23-25.

Wildcats taking part in the weekend’s proceedings are: senior Petra Chuda, juniors Karla Bonacic and Carmen Borau Ramos, sophomore Sarah Snodgrass and freshman Marketa Trousilova. Four of the five will look to put an end to a personal skid of at least three matches or longer.

Bonacic will see her second action of the 2011 fall campaign, after going 1-2 in Indiana. The product of Split, Croatia, owns a career singles mark of 34-26, including a strong 11-2 record in three-set matches.

Borau Ramos will look to put an end to a personal 3-match skid and boost her 2-4 record this fall. A season ago, the native of San Bernardo, Spain, went 2-1 at the Kansas Invitational with a pair of straight set victories. For her career, Borau Ramos owns a 21-37 singles record.

Trousilova has enjoyed moderate early success in her first season in Manhattan. After the first two events this fall, she has tallied a mark of 2-4 in singles play but will look to halt a three-match skid that she accrued at the Hoosier Classic. In doubles action, Trousilova is tied for the team lead with a 5-2 record.

Following this weekend’s Kansas Invitational, K-State will splits squad for its final competitions in the month of November. Sophomore Petra Niedermayerova will represent K-State at the 2011 USTA/ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Flushing, N.Y., Nov. 3-6. A number of Wildcats will trek in the opposite direction and pay a visit to Tempe, Ariz., for the Thunderbird Invitational, Nov. 4-6.
