Chuda Completes Perfect Weekend

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Kansas State freshman Petra Chuda secured a perfect 4-0 weekend, as the Wildcats registered their second straight day of perfection in singles action during the final day of the New Mexico Invitational.

 

Chuda is the first Wildcat this fall to register a perfect weekend in singles play, defeating Kaitlyn Ritchie of Missouri, 6-1, 6-3 in the finals of Flight C. Chuda will enter 2009 with a 7-5 record in singles play and a 6-3 mark in two-set matches.

 

Freshman Andrea Straznicka improved her record to .500 with a three-set win over Bolan Tarkoe of Iowa State, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. Straznicka is 7-7 in her debut campaign with the Wildcats. She is 3-3 in three-set matches and will enter the spring season as a winner in five of her last seven matches.

 

Senior Natasha Vieira moved her fall singles record to 5-5 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Manumea Durie of New Mexico.

 

Kansas State will return to the court to open the spring season, Jan. 16-18 for the Georgia Bulldog Invitational in Athens, Ga.
