Strong Doubles Play Caps Stellar Day for Wildcats

TULSA, Okla. The Wildcats added three wins in late night doubles play to push their daily total to seven on Thursday at the ITA Central Region Tournament.


All three Kansas State doubles teams earned opening round byes before topping their opponents in the main draw’s round of 32 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.


Katerina Kudlackova and Viviana Yrureta, seeded No. 4 in the draw, topped Missouri’s Katelyn McKenzie and Raquel Wagner, 8-4, and will face another Big 12 north team in Kansas’ Kunigunda Dorn and Yuliana Svistun in the next round.


Olga Klimova and Tamar Kvaratskhelia beat Creighton’s Katie Chiu and Tess Reddin, 8-3, and will also face a team from Kansas, Elizaveta Avdeeva and Edina Horvata on Friday.


Tereza Prochazkova and Fernanda Da Valle topped Arkansas’ Melissa Hoffmeister and Rachel Wilhelm, 8-6, and get Wichita State’s Stephanie Dalmacio and Anna Egorova in the next round.


Kansas State has won nine matches on the first two days of the Central Region Tournament and still have four players in the singles main draw and three doubles teams left in the doubles main draw.

Play continues throughout the weekend and culminates with Sunday’s championship matches. The winners of the singles and doubles draws will receive an automatic bid into the Wilson/ITA Indoor National Championship hosted by Ohio State University.
