Wildcats Travel to Iowa for Drake Jamboree

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State women’s tennis will return to action this weekend, as the Wildcats travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Drake Jamboree Friday through Sunday at the Knapp Tennis Center.

Head coach Danielle Steinberg will send six Wildcats to the Drake Jamboree including: senior Amina St. Hill, sophomores Iva Bago, Livia Cirnu, Maria Panaite and Riley Nizzi and freshman Laura Hopton.

As a team, K-State enters this weekend with a combined singles record of 20-20 and a team doubles mark of 6-8.

Hopton made her K-State debut during the OU Invite in the middle of September and registered a 3-1 record, closing out the weekend with three straight wins. Her current three-match win streak is the second-longest by a Wildcat this season and the longest active streak.

Bago and Panaite finished their first weekend of the fall at the OU Invite with identical 2-2 records. Bago and Panaite each recovered from opening losses to register consecutive wins in their respective draws. The duo will look to get to .500 in their careers in fall events, as Bago owns a career mark of 7-8 while Panaite is 6-8.

Following this weekend’s action in Des Moines, K-State will close out its fall schedule next weekend in Houston, Texas, at the Jason’s Deli Collegiate Invitational at the University of Houston.
