Diaz Misses Cut For Main Draw at ITA Regionals

SALT LAKE CITY In the qualifying rounds of the 2003 ITA Central Regional Championships, Kansas State’s Judith Diaz did not move past the first round of singles play held Wednesday at the Eccles Tennis Center.

Kansas’ Christine Skoda defeated Diaz in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, in the opening round of 64. Diaz, a native of Margarita Island, Venezuela, was the lone Wildcat to participate in the qualifying portion of the five-day regional tournament hosted by the University of Utah.

Teammates Paulina Castillejos, Maria Rosenberg, Hayley McIver and Jessica Simosa will begin main draw singles and doubles competition tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. (CST).
