Wildcats Conclude Fall Play at Arizona State

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State wraps up the fall tennis schedule with a trip to the desert and the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational on Friday at the Whiteman Tennis Center.

The Wildcats will send six players to the 12th Annual Thunderbird Tournament and compete against players from Arizona State, Cal, Michigan, Pepperdine and Purdue.

Viviana Yrureta looks to improve on her team-leading 7-2 singles record and Katerina Kudlackova (3-5), Tamar Kvaratskhelia (3-2), and Tereza Prochazkova (3-6) will all try to move past three singles wins for the fall.

Fernanda Da Valle, who missed much of the fall recovering from a foot injury before going 2-2 at the ITA Central Region Tournament, led Kansas State at last year’s Thunderbird Invitational with three wins and finished the season as the team’s leader with 22 wins.

Olga Klimova is 1-3 this fall and 3-4 in doubles play. Natasha Vieira and Maria Perevoschikova are out with injuries.

Competition begins on Friday morning at the Whiteman Tennis Center with doubles followed by the first round of the singles main draw. Singles play will continue through the afternoon with the second round of the main draw and consolation.
