Kansas State Coach and Player Quotes
Head Coach Suzie Fritz
On  the first win…
“Now it is time to try and win games. Sometimes it looks better than other times. We have the first game under our belt, and we got the first game jitters out of the way. I think we did a lot of things well, but there is also a lot of things we can improve on. Coaches are perpetually dissatisfied. So there is always things we can get better at.”

On depth of team…
“They have earned the right to play. We are competing hard in practice. Competition is one of our core values, and we encourage it a lot in practice to battle for jobs. We like to go get each other in practice. We have this tremendously competitive environment in practice which leads to a lot of people earning time. So we are doing our best to manage that, and get them time. The thing I was really excited about was when we were rolling people in and out of the match, there was no drop off whatsoever. They were ready and came in and contributed significantly. I was very pleased about that, and I believe our depth is our strength. ”

On the atmosphere…
“It is unbelievable. First I appreciate the marketing efforts of our folks and trying to get people in the stands. People who are involved in volleyball and trying to promote it, I appreciate it a ton. Our students came out in full force. We love those guys. They are nuts, and it is electric.  The environment we have going here rivals any in the country.”

On Lilla Porubek
“Lilla is Lilla. You know what you are going to get. She is one of our most consistent hitters. She is our OH 1, and that is a difficult job. We can rely on her to kill a lot of balls for us, and she is so creative in the way she gets her kills. She can put the ball anywhere she wants to go. She sees the game at a really high level, and I think she gave us what we expect. She is so consistent.”

Senior setter  Caitlyn  Donahue.
On  the first win…
“I am really proud of my team and the way that we played. I think we came out and had a great crowd behind us. We had a lot of confidence coming into this match. I think that confidence came from all the hard work we put in during the summer and in preseason. We were ready, and I am excited we got that first win.”

On team’s depth…
“Comfortable. I am so proud of all the girls that came in and played hard. If you were watching, you would not notice a difference between who was in and who was out. I think that no matter what or who we have in and what personnel we have in, we are going to play a good match.  I think that shows that we have great depth on our team, and I think it will help us out a lot this year.”

On tonight’s crowd…
“It is great to have all of our fans out there including students, season ticket holders. We appreciate it so much. I do not think they understand how big of a role they play. With wins like that, having them behind us and having them cheer, it is awesome.”
