Wildcats Add Three to 2007 Roster

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State head volleyball coach Suzie Fritz announced on Wednesday the addition of Abby Fay, Lauren Mathewson and Mollie Myers to the 2007 roster. All three players are enrolled at K-State and are taking part in the team’s spring workouts.

Fay is a 2006 All-State selection and a two-time All-Regional selection from Park Hill South High School in Riverside, Mo. The 5-7 setter finished the 2006 season as a finalist for the 2006 Evelyn Gates Award, given to the best volleyball player in the Kansas City metropolitan area. At the conclusion of her four-year career with the Panthers last fall, Fay was as the school’s all-time leader in assists with 1,798.

Mathewson was a teammate of Fay’s at Park Hill South and was a 2006 All-State second team selection. The 5-6 libero was a two-time All-Regional selection (2005-2006), four-time All-District selection (2003-2006) and a four-time All-Mid 6 selection (2003-2006).

Myers, a native of Grand Island, Neb., is a two-time All-Heartland Athletic Conference selection. The 5-7 setter helped the Islanders to a district and conference title during the 2005 season. Myers is also a gifted track athlete, earning state medalist honors in the triple jump and helped the 4x100-meter relay team set a school record.
