K-State to Host Gold Medal Squared Coaching Clinic

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Volleyball coaches across the region will have an opportunity to attend one of the most comprehensive, revolutionary and valuable coaching clinics in the nation this summer here in Manhattan as Ahearn Field House will be a host site for one of the Gold Medal Squared Coaching Foundations Volleyball Clinics in June. K-State Head Coach Suzie Fritz will serve as one of the clinicians along with Gold Medal Squared co-founder and seven-time Olympic coach Carl McGown and St. Mary's Head Coach Rob Browning.

The Gold Medal Squared Coaching Clinic will be held June 21-23 at Ahearn Field House and will cover a range of topics including offensive and defensive systems, practice planning, skills and drills and more.

"It's an honor and pleasure to host Coach Carl McGown and the Gold Medal Squared Clinics on our campus," said Fritz. "Coach McGown is world renowned for his coaching principles and methods and has been a pioneer in developing coaching techniques to help coaches and players throughout the world. This clinic is the best in the country and is a tremendous opportunity to grow and develop your ability as a coach."

Cost for the Gold Medal Squared Coaching Clinic is $399 and $359 for an additional coach from the same team or program. Check in for the clinic will be at 7:30 a.m. June 21 with sessions starting at 8:30 a.m. The first two days of the clinic will have nearly 10 hours of instruction and drills. The third day will conclude at 3:30 p.m.

Gold Medal Squared believes its coaching clinics can provide the foundation for new and experienced coaches to build a lasting and successful volleyball program. Proof can be seen in coaches and programs that have already bought into the Gold Medal Squared plan.

K-State has been to 14 NCAA Tournaments, nine in the 12 years Fritz has led the program, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2011. Browning and his Gaels have been to four NCAA Tournaments in his eight years leading the St. Mary's team. He also has served as an assistant coach for the USA Men's National Team at four Olympic Games, including last summer in London.

The mission of Gold Medal Squared is to seek out and share the best way to play and coach the game of volleyball. Gold Medal Squared is the collaborative effort of three of the most successful and experienced coaches in the history of volleyball in the United States, Dr. Carl McGown, Dr. Marv Dunphy and Dr. Doug Beal. Its clinics and camps were created with the improvement in the quality of volleyball players and coaches in mind.
