K-State to Host Clinic, Spring Tournament

MANHATTAN, Kan. The Kansas State volleyball team will host the inaugural Powercat Spring Challenge on Saturday at Park Hill South High School. The event will pit the Wildcats against teams from Kansas, Colorado State, Creighton and St. Louis for the spring tournament and include a youth clinic before the action on the court begins. The event is being co-sponsored by Country Financial and Win for K.C.


The Wildcats will play their final tournament of the spring workouts on Saturday hosting the event at the former high school of two current K-State players Abby Fay and Lauren Mathewson. Action will be played on two courts with a morning and afternoon session.


Before the tournament gets underway, the coaching staffs and players from all five teams competing will conduct a clinic for girls ages 8-12. Space for the clinic is limited to the first 100. A clinic fee of $5 will also include a T-shirt. For more information on the clinic visit Win for KC’s Web site at www.sportkc.org.


Registration for the clinic begins at 8:15 a.m. followed by an autograph session with the student-athletes. The clinic will last one hour from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45. K-State opens the tournament against Colorado State at 10:15 a.m. on Court 1 with KU taking on St. Louis to get the action started on Court 2.
