Fritz Set to Coach USA A2 Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State volleyball coach Suzie Fritz begins her slate of coaching the USA Volleyball National Women’s A2 Team program this week in Minnesota. Fritz was selected as one of two head coaches for the program earlier this year and the squad reports for training this week in preparation for the USA Adult Open Volleyball Championships.

The squad of 24 student-athletes with remaining eligibility at their respective institutions will be divided into two teams before competition begins following the training sessions this week in Minneapolis.

An intrasquad scrimmage also is scheduled on Thursday to benefit local gymnast Meghan Bergman who suffered severe injuries at an event in January. The scrimmage is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion and hosted by Minneapolis-area club team Minnesota One Volleyball Club and USA Volleyball. Bergman is the daughter of Minnesota One and Lakeville High School coach Doug Bergman.

The USA Volleyball Women’s National A2 program will conclude its training period on Thursday and begin competition in the Open Division of the USA Adult Open Volleyball Championship on Friday. Action will last four days and take place at Minneapolis Convention Center.
