Purple/White Scrimmage Set for August 16

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Fans will get their first opportunity to see the 2014 K-State volleyball team in action on Saturday, August 16, as the Wildcats will square off in the annual Purple/White Scrimmage. The intra-squad matchup, which is free to all fans, starts at 7 p.m. in Ahearn Field House.

Fans will also be able to purchase season tickets for the upcoming season at the scrimmage as well as pick up team posters and schedules.

K-State, with seven returning letterwinners, four redshirts and nine newcomers, will take part in its first official practices of the season on Saturday, August 9. All-Big 12 Freshman Team selection Katie Brand and last year’s leading blocker, Taylor Johnson, highlight the list of returners. The freshman class, meanwhile, was ranked No. 27 in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com, and will be joined by three transfers, senior Mary Alice O’Reilly (San Jose State), sophomore Brooke Sassin (Mississippi State) and redshirt sophomore Sheridan Zarda (Nebraska), to make up the group of new arrivals.

The regular season gets underway on Saturday, August 29 with the Green Bay Country Inn & Suites Invitational. The home portion of the schedule starts on Thursday, September 4 with the Varney’s Invitational in Bramlage Coliseum.
