Wildcats Open Training Camp

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State Wildcats opened their training camp in preparation for the 2010 volleyball season on Monday. Head coach Suzie Fritz said she was pleased with the first two-a-days session and looks forward to continuing to ready for the season.


"We're excited to get on the floor and start working together," Initially, we are focusing on defense during two-a-days and things went well today."


Fritz said she was glad to see the shape her Wildcats came to the gym in on Monday morning with the players taking initiative during the summer to get better.


"I'm very impressed with the condition everyone came to practice in today," Fritz said. "All of our girls worked hard in the gym on their own all summer. It's good to see them come to practice ready to work hard, and it was a good first day. Now we can focus on getting better every day so we're ready to play our first match."


The Wildcats open their season on August 27 against national powerhouse UCLA in Hawaii for the Hawaii Chevron Classic. K-State will also take on San Diego and Hawaii at the tournament. The Wildcats' first home match will be against South Dakota on September 1st.


K-State will continue its training camp over the next two weeks, which will conclude with the annual Purple/White Scrimmage at Ahearn Field House on August 20 at 7 p.m. Media Day also will be on the 20th beginning at 5:15 p.m.
