Meet the Team: Mattie Batchelder

Aug 19, 2013

Throughout the preseason, K-State will help fans learn a little more about the Wildcats volleyball team. Expect some traditional and nontraditional questions with each player over the next couple of weeks. First up is freshman defensive specialist and libero Mattie Batchelder. You can also learn more about Mattie as part of the “Meet The Team” series on K-StateHD.TV.

Favorite thing about the K-State campus?

“I like that it is big, but it’s also compact. Everything is close together. It’s just really pretty, too.”

Favorite thing about Manhattan, KS?

“The pride for the school. Everybody is always wearing purple. It’s all about K-State.”

Favorite place away from the K-State campus?

“Aggieville. It’s fun and very convenient with all the restaurants and little shops.”

Favorite K-State sport, other than volleyball?

“Football. Some of my favorite experiences as a kid were coming to games at Bill Snyder Family Stadium with my parents and aunts and uncles. I just like the atmosphere at football games.”

Biggest role model?

“My high school coach. Her name is Tara Hittle. She played at Hawaii, and she played a little bit professionally in Switzerland. She helped me build up my confidence and just made me a much better player.”
